Note: This is not a click thru of hotspots layered over Photoshop composites but a real-time completion of a representative HTML form programmed using Axure. I haven't experienced it in context but my feeling is that we will miss the depth of cognitive interaction Axure gives with its logical and conditional If, Else If, and Else programming or its responsive presentation? I can understand why graphic designers and product owners would love it. That's OK in the context of a 50% art-direction or a UI-priority design workflow, but for a 100% UX workflow I have my doubts. One app focusses on importing Photoshop or Sketch composites and overlaying hotspots on them. I do not like the slavery to device dimentions forced in one or three of these alternatives however tasty they look. Newer web-apps such as Webflow and and Invision are worth investigating if HTML is a struggle for you, if time is an issue, or the needs fand abilities for scripting are limited. Adobe's Experience Design (XD) and particularly Infragistics' Indigo Studio have made some great advances recently, too.
Other tools are available such as Mockplus, Omnigraf, Sketch, etc. The cloud-based AxShare facility gives Axure the edge for me when injecting new features and sharing updates and widget libraries with the team or our user groups in real-time. Axure suits a Mobile first design methodology although it has some weaknesses when presenting a fluid-responsive design philosophy. It's way beyond a "click thru" and can do those too.ĭesigners with low HTML and scripting skills can communicate interaction and programming intentions dynamically to engineers. When not wireframing directly to HTML, Axure RP is my wireframing tool of choice.Īxure's advantages are in emulating existing and complex UI interactions, testing business logic, and sharing dynamic concepts and prototypes with the team without causing disaster.
